a soldier's restby okiesisiComment by Stagolee: Greetings from the critique club,
This is a very interesting photo that has much appeal about it. Unlike many of the comments you received I think the circle frame that is off centre is a real treat and adds a certain amount irony given the subject matter. Although I'm not real sure how you achieved it.
I like the candid moment you have caught here it really gives the viewer something to ponder what the soldier is writing and who is the letter for, surely a tender moment for a loved one.
It is a shame that the highlights in the hand and face area have been blown out which has caused a great loss in detail but as you mentioned in your notes it was your first attempt and for a first attempt it is very good.
I hope you continue to improve and enjoy the DPC community and wish you well in future challenges and please keep mtrying to be different it is what keeps us as individuals and your frame in this image was a great idea.

Day 1 Portraitby okiesisiComment by Tammer: Seems to be some sort of crosshatch filtering effect (personally, I'm not a fan of those filters). To me, it makes the photo seem blurry. The light looks a bit harsh, but such a sweet subject and fills the frame nicely. |
