Not quite a technical success as the image appears to be less than sharp, crisp and detailed even though it's not - the bridge is fine, with just on the edge highlights, but the rather vague foreground against the heavy lighting effect in the background creates this impression. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. One aspect of this image that the author missed, but would have been very effective, is the abstract/impressionist reflection on the water. If the author had maneuvered to capture that effect, it would have made an unbelievable image in the style of Claude Monet.

Compositionally, this is a very strong shot. The city in the background and the bridge make a nice balanced composition. However, it does feel ever so slightly tilted to the right. I know part of it is a perspective thing -- it would be difficult to get the background straight without making the bridge look weird, but the verticals on the bridge look a bit slanted as well. I do find myself wanting just a bit more "stuff" on the right, but overall, nicely done.

Technically, the exposure, focus and colors on this are very well done, very attractive, and very pleasant to look at.

The script you have chosen works very well.

Overall, a great shot (one of my higher scorers) and definitely one you can be proud of.

A clever idea and a technical success, it's less than successful in an artistic sense. DOF control is excellant. The lighting is just a little overdone. Perhaps a different background with a slightly different angle would have helped. Certainly less reflection in the image would have helped tremendously. A little more thought and better lighting would have brought the rating higher.
