I love nature, and this image is all about it. I do feel that maybe too much brown - maybe if the tree stump had some green moss on it to add color it would pop more. Still giving high marks as I do like this.

I think Skip hits all the major points, but I'd also add that the leaf background texture and color are also very distracting, and detract from the main subject. I might have softened both the texture and the color to help focus the eye more on the pals, but the moment you caught is more special to you than for the viewer.

nice enough, but not really "the moment" that would have gotten you the handful of 7's necessary to take this above a 6.

the knee is blocking the dog, the arms are blocking the face, the ball is in her hands, the dog is just standing. there's no sense of motion or dynamics. all the technicals are there, it's just missing the emotional connectivity.
