4th New York Independent Battery - Devil's Den - Gettysburg Battlefieldby glad2badadComment by Sisto: The process used for this image is the HDR tecnique; in this photo I think that it doesn't give the right result due to the fact that the background is too much important and the colours are similar to the monument's ones.
It's a pity cause the monument has the perfect parameters for the contest and i think you'd have to isolate it from the rest to have the perfect result |

4th New York Independent Battery - Devil's Den - Gettysburg Battlefieldby glad2badadComment by tanguera: I think the issues with this image have been well-covered by other commenters. David nailed it, imo, as this is just a documentarian type of image showing that you've been here. If you wanted imposing grandeur, you should have gotten down lower, shot from an angle, something. I'm far more intrigued by that castle thing on the hill, with those tiny people climbing towards it than what is in the foreground...
On the weather note, a lot of folks hate overcast days for photography. I love them, because it gives me a blank slate to decide what to highlight and emphasize, rather than letting nature decide for me. It takes a bit of creativity, but if you want an example, send me the original :) |

A Dolphin's Taleby glad2badadComment by PaulFrocchi: How cool is that. Nice capture. I didn't score it very high though (4) because there wasn't enough to hold me. I do think that the scene may have produced more moments that would have grabbed me and kept me looking. Good Luck! |

4th New York Independent Battery - Devil's Den - Gettysburg Battlefieldby glad2badadComment by jgirl57: I did not vote on this image, but I would have given it a 5 due to the background..
I think if you would have just focused on the statue which is a phenomenal detailed and very powerful subject, it just got lost within the whole image. The canon showing within, so what... it was the statue that really is the powerful statement
I would like to see this cropped up and then composed to just the statue, I think this would have been awesome image! You have a great subject which no doubt an awesome thing on itself
You always have great tastes when it comes to your subjects Message edited by author 2015-05-04 11:06:32. |
