Playing with shadowsby igoofryComment by jpochard: This was a very creative idea and not a bad photo at all. I think it would have been more effective with the curtain pressed to get rid of the wrinkles. I would also go over and darken the shadow a bit more. This is not something I would have thought of and you came up with a good shot. |

Sunburst Shadowby igoofryComment by scarbrd: ---Greetings from the Critique Club!---
My first impression is that I like the backlit palm leaf.
Meeting the challenge - This is most likely where your score suffered the most. While shadows are an element here, I don't think they are a strong enough element. IMO the challenge requires that the shadow be a major element of the photo or at least makes the photo better because of its presence. I don't think that happens here.
The busy background isn't helping the aesthetics of your photo either.
The composition is good. I like that the subject is of center. The eye is drawn in then out from the palm. The exposure and the angle are good too.
I think if the shadow element was more prominent this photo would have scored much better.
I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

morning fogby igoofryComment by Rikki: This is nice but would probably be even better if it were in a sepia or a duotone. The fog creates a sense of mystery and drama within the composition. Great shot. |

Gee Creek twin fallsby igoofryComment by Rikki: This image is fantastic. The silky smooth water are like tiny fingers holding the rocks. The foreground works well to balance the mpty areas to the left. |

Moonby igoofryComment by klstover: I love this! The moon looks really nice and crisp and really draws me in. I also like how the background is blue, not black - it gives it a nice feel to the shot.
There is a bit of noise showing but I imagine that was due to your sharpening so that the moon details could stand out. Maybe there is a way to sharpen only the moon?
Looking at this gives me one of those "Yay for God and his beautiful creation" moments - great photo! |
