Crank it all the way upby igoofryComment by igoofry: I started to name this image with some reference to Spinal Tap and this amp only going to 10. I wasn't sure how many would get the reference though. I tried probably 20 different angles to get the 10's to show up more predominately, but nothing else worked very well or was just a picture of some knobs set on 10.
Thanks for the votes and especially thanks for all that left a comment.
Oh, and yeah, my other amp goes to 11, but that would have gotten me a DNMC. :) |

Sunset at St Andrews 2by igoofryComment by elsapo: Beautiful sunset with different color tonalities. I like the sloped "line" that the plants in front give against the straight horizon. One thing you could do to this image is use the shadow/highlight tool in photoshop, you can bring some light and texture to the front ;) |

Hi again Jeff. Now, it might well be my monitor but my first thought was the foreground was a little dark, opening it up in CS showed much more detail :)
The light on the trees is great and most likely the main reason for this shot? It doesn't possess the 'WOW' factor we all strive but I like it. The horizontal branches on the right add that little interest that helps the image :) The only bit that worries me (nit picking) is the bit of branch just above the left hand tree. Light skies rarelty work for me but the light pink tinge on an almost white sky helps the overall effect imho - another shot to be happy with :) |

Gee Creek twin fallsby igoofryComment by Ecce_Signum: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
Hi Jeff, what a wonderfull spot to find, a great shot and well worth the ramble! A couple of thoughts - It was said earlier the falls were a little central and I agree, also even though the top left has a nice diagonal I think that area detracts a little from the shot (but shows the surroundings well). I took the liberty of doing a quick crop (will pm you with the url as I never asked to do it). I'm wondering if closing down the aperture and boosting the ISO to keep the same shutter speed would have added a little more sharpness to the right hand rocks?
The foreground stones in the milky river set this shot off really well - a shot to be proud of :)

Crank it all the way upby igoofryComment by LucidLotus: Meets the challenge well. I like the title. The lighting looks good and the focus is nice. I'm not sure about the composition for a couple of reasons. First the guitar in the background does further the story a bit and compliments the idea of the image but the fact that it is background and blurred out distracts me. Seeing it makes me wish it were more in focus which would defeat the purpose of it being background and a supporting role so I can't decide if it works for me or not. Also, I can't really read the name of the amp or whatever this thingie is (I don't know musical equipment!) and that's due to the way the camera is facing. I'd much prefer to be able to read the name easily - especially since it has much of the crisp focus on it. A slight turn in perspective would achieve that as well as maybe make the 10s just a bit more obvious. Still you'd lose the guitar in the background so its a tough call. Overall I gave a 6 |
