The ffect on this photo, be it bad compression or intentional, unfortunately bothers my eyes. A certain artifacty grain seems to cover the entire picture, and it is not pleasing to look at. The border also seems out of place, a bit too big and perhaps unnecessary at all.

Really distracting billboard and pole (or tree trunk?) I'm sure you had reasons for choosing this angle, so some selective cropping might have helped. Aren't these "living statues" amazing!

Yes a statue is stationary and the exposure is exceptional; however, the sign in the background takes away any feeling this image conveys about being stationary. The flow of the lines on the sign indicates places you can go and thus, motion.
