Hi

I am Kari from the Critique Club. The following is a critique for "big".

First Impression - the most important one:
Clever, Clever, Clever .. how the hell did he do that!

Composition:
I think that for the subject matter and the picture you have choosen to take the composition is really good. It does not meet the rules that well .. but some of the great photographers never met any rules!

Subject:
You have a great imagination and captured the topic extremely well. I remember the feeling well from childhood.

Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
You are right the flash is a little harsh .. but hey how old is the kid .. he did a great job!

To grow its vote?:
First one over six ... fantastic ... grew the vote would take your child getting older and doing the flash a little better .. so overall awesome job.

Summary:
Fantastic ... I saw this as great during the challenge and am pleased it got you your first over 6 ... keep shooting.

This will be my first critique in awhile so I apologize if it doesn't cover everything. First I wanted to say this is an awesome capture great subject sharpness and shallow DOF. It looks lick a couple spots on his head and in front of his wing are blown out a bit but not so bad it hurts the overall picture. while i love the shallow DOF it feels like the bird blends into the background a little because of the light bird on the tan color background. Great positioning of the subject, I like how his wing leads you to him. Over all I say this is an above average photo that should have scored better than id did. Keep up the good work, let me know if you have any questions or comments about what I said.

hey - that shadow must be my kids who often have the same reaction to me! funny. little too hot on your back and the door is a little distracting, but a great concept.
