Father, Why Have You Forsaken Me?by paganiniComment by Sonifo: I think that this is a great picture. I love the color. It look like blood to me. And it does have some dark tones to it, but I like the effect. paganini, Do you think God is trying to talk to you. You sure are pushing this non-christian stuff in peoples faces. That is ok. I will be praying for you. And somethings that happen are not meant for us to understand. Are minds and hearts are so intune to earthly things that we can't understand some of the things God has put out there. Just live right and try to spread happiness. God is Good!! |

Father, Why Have You Forsaken Me?by paganiniComment by paganini: as far as the "fake blood" comments go: there are very few substances that look like blood other than real blood and i am not about to stake my arm to produce this image ;-) If people wanted realism, try Hollywood and special effects :-) it's meant to be symbolic. If the rules of DPC allowed some spot editing and filtering, this image would'v ebeen created different to project the symbolism and the "memory" image effects. |

Father, Why Have You Forsaken Me?by paganiniComment by paganini: I am not sure why everyone think the image is "dark". It is properly exposed because the backgorund is black and the whole thing is intended to project history, and "memory images". I see people liking it and some dont' like it because of the "darkness". It's not meant and never was the intention to be meant to be obvious. The apple symbolizes original sin and Jesus was suppose to die for sins, hence the crucifiction of him and the applpe as the removal of sins. It also shows God's WRAITH to some extent towards man in general. The title came from the Bible when Jesus is about to die he cries out for help and wonders why God has forsaken him and forgotten him, that is clearly a statement of anger/wrath and that's why it's a compliment to the image as titles should be. Maybe the darkness is a monitor issue, it looks fine on my monitor AND the print looks fine, which is what matters. Anyway, i fully expected the low votes but that's OK :-) Thanks for your comments, even the hateful ones :^) |

Father, Why Have You Forsaken Me?by paganiniComment by wingy: I think the idea behind this was very interesting.. but you were expecting your viewer to make too many connections with too little for them to work with. It would be difficult to realize that the apple is meant to imply that christ also commited a deadly sin when it is so difficult to even tell if the thing blocking the hand is indeed an apple. I didn't get through them all this week (since I fully commented on every one I voted on), but I think I would have given this a 5 or so. Technically the photo is good, but doesn't specifically stand out to me either. It is notable that I appreciate your attepts at creativity here. Creative attempts by nature are hit and miss... even if I were to give this a 4 and give a great shot of a sunset a 6, I'd much prefer to have more shots in the creative vein than the generic stuff that is broadly appealing. When you're playing hit and miss, and especially with gutsy statements like this, keep shooting and you'll inevitably get better at hitting. |
