Just Turned Eight ....by LouiseBComment by SandyP: Gorgeous, magazine cover looking photograph!!! I love the effect of the wind blowing -- especially without losing an ounce of sharpness! Beautiful job!!! 10 |

Just Turned Eight ....by LouiseBComment by Jutilda: I like the coy expression. Her cocked head adds a cuteness. Her smile is adorable. I like her hair having the windblowh sense to it. I also like that you used a landscape layout. The black background is a nice backdrop to her face and the white tee shirt. Nice skin tones as well. Crystal clear eyes. Not too much post processing is evident. Upon 2nd review, I'm upping my score. Congrats on a nice capture! |

Positive Energyby LouiseBComment by eschelar: This is beautiful in nearly every way. I don't know why the appearance of being nude adds so much to this picture, but it really is truly complementary.
I personally would have liked overall lighting to be much subtler and softer (as in slightly more spread through the foreground for instance to see more clearly on the thumbs.
After reading how you did this, I think a little more attention on the thumbs would have helped. I was originally thinking that it was lit by small low voltage wires held on by tape and thumbed over. Knowing there were no wires makes the shot that much better. Maybe spillage from another flashlight with a rather tight beam on the front of the bulb?
If it was me, I would have used blue tones and placed more emphasis on the bulb. Mine would have sucked compared to this because yours places the emphasis on skin tones.
Superb. |

Positive Energyby LouiseBComment by TooCool: Wow. This shot has one thing going for it that I always look for in a portrait/set up/studio type shot. You got awesome lighting going on. You got a great soft focus effect too! I hope you're not getting bad comments about it being out of focus. Soft focus for some reason doesn't seem to do good here. I keep hoping that shots like this will change that. The only minor complaints that I have are that the base of the light bulb is hard to see which doesn't help the illusion. Nor in this instance does the lighting help the illusion. It would have been the first ten in my voting history if the overall lighting would have appeared to have come from the bulb itself and not from outside frame left...
Kudos

Positive Energyby LouiseBComment by annah: hmmm, not sure how I feel about the soft focus here...maybe it adds to the mood, maybe not. Either way, I have to know how you did this! |
