Please do not take this as an insult on your wife and child (I assume they are yours) but the shot itself isn´t very good, looks more like a cute family photo and nothing more. It´s not all bad either though, with the exception of that line in the backround it´s a good backround and the ligthing is good. What I would want to see done better are not so tight crop and something more interesting going on in the picture, like the baby smiling at the mother or just anything besides sitting and a forced smile at the camera. Keep it up.

good pose, nice expression on mother, baby would have looked better echoing mothers expression or inverting it.. would have enjoyed stronger light contrasts
