CRITIQUE CLUB! (Mmmmmmm...critique club *drooooool*)

Great idea and a unique submission to the Yellow challenge.

I'm a big fan of DOF and think that it was very well-done in this image.

I'm with the commenters that say the placement of the figurine might have been better if it had included all of the picture of the family or, at least, Homer rather than Bart in that image. Still, the way it's superimposed on the photo is great.

My only other little nitpick -- and it is little -- is that the color of Santa's Little Helper in the photo almost blends in to the red of the figurine's shirt. DOH! I know it's minor, but it's just one of those things that you notice when you stare at a picture for a while.

I'm actually surprised that there weren't more similar entries in the challenge, but I think this was just perfect. And, better still, it really popped out at me from the thumbnail page.

Now there's americana deluxe for you ! A lovely job of selective focus. Like your choice of composition and above all your refreshing subject matter. Nice color arrangement with the bold yellow being offset by larger areas of quiet gray and complementary patches of blue. I like this relatively informal image compared to harsh tack sharp studio shots. This feels more like human vision where the human eye normally has a very narrow plane of focus. A pleasant playful theme. Well done.

you should have had him on the other side to cover up the bart in the background and be able to see homer. And bart is rather well behaved compared to most of todays children.

Love the concept here... definitely fits the challenge... I might have suggested putting him on the right covering up him in the background instead of covering up homer, and turning him to the left... this would have worked in a few ways, one which I already mentioned with Homer. 2 the background families eye's would draw you to him, and three he would still be looking back at the family, still this is an original shot, well lit, and great use of DOF.... good for a -9-from me! Nice job :-)

cool shot... it's really fun... bart seems a little soft though... did you use a tripod? the soft focus makes it looks hand held and that's why the focus is a bit off... I like how you were able to violate the rule of 3rds also... subject placement works really well in this case... not easy to do!

Good idea. Very creative. I have to say though, that the way he is placed in the corner. . .and with the background being fuzzy. . it is disturbing to the eye.
