Grandpa's Toolsby ShaneBlakeComment by pmichaud: The colors in this image are wonderful. Great composition, texture and tones... your Grandpa would be very proud to have his toolbox transformed into art! Can't vote on this one, but it would have been a 10 if I could have voted. |

"North and South," by John Jakesby ShaneBlakeComment by see: I an one of a few that have taken on theĆ¢€¯ Comment on every vote challengeĆ¢€¯. I will post the score I gave you then try to explain my reasons for said vote. Hopefully nothing below will be taken personally, and maybe we can both learn from it..
This is a fantastic cannon stop action shot, but, your actors are killing me on the believable scale. I give the cannon a 10, actors a 4 only because of period dress. Score for this entry a 7. |

"North and South," by John Jakesby ShaneBlakeComment by Garry: Nice capture! Great timing on the explosion with the smoke and dust! If find the processing a little over-cooked. What appears to be HDR/tonemapping has robbed it of it's gritty character, though. |

"North and South," by John Jakesby ShaneBlakeComment by mariuca: Did not read the novel and I believe that this reenactment is as accurate as it could be but the picture does not inspire me much in terms of a good photograph. Could be a good as reference photo.

"North and South," by John Jakesby ShaneBlakeComment by lunachicken: Very cool shot. There is a lot of subtle detail in this that really make it stand out. The smoke trails coming from the rear of the cannon, the sparks from the front, the soil spray, the rain (I think) on the left. 8 |

"North and South," by John Jakesby ShaneBlakeComment by Denielle: Great photo to interpret the title!
Really like what you've done with this shot.
The only complaint I have is that I don't like the flag being cropped off at the top like that. I would have either liked to had seen the entire flag, or it completely cropped out.
