In a challenge where it would meet the challenge topic, I would probably cut out the negative space on the right with a square crop. It does have a jounalistic feel to it.

I think desaturation here may have detracted from the whole. Would like to see the red of the swiss army knife and the weathering of the hiking boot. The item in the lower right corner is washed out and distracting.
