Let The Vacation Begin..........

The first thing that strikes me about this image is the warmth of it -- really invites a person in.

This has a very good composition, with the perspective placed the Sun very near the vanishing point. the leading line of the rocky land leads me to the setting Sun -- but then brightness pushes me back out, onto the ship which leads to the land the the cycle continues. This keeps my attention moving from one part to another, never resting and growing bored. The result is perfect for the challenge, I feel the pull to walk along the rocks -- but that won't get me to the destination, so maybe the ship will.

As a matter of personal taste I think the lower portion of the image needs to be brightened a bit and the entire image could be sharper -- but these are at best only slightly disagreeable.

Maybe I just need a bit more light for the journey.

The highlights of the sun in the water are a bit harsh for me, but I like the glass setup itself and I think having the person in the water adds interest to the photo. Like the glass is waiting for him when he (or she) returns.

Nice shot, that drink looks very tempting and refreshing and I love the setting, very fitting to have a beach and a sunset and the person adds some interest to the shot. However, I have to put a question mark about the composition, especially since the "rule of thirds" challenge was just around the corner and I personally would have liked this shot heaps more if the glass was in the lower left corner and the rest of the shot identical. 7 from me.

REally nice. Good texture, nice lighting. I really would have liked the glass to have been lower in the shot. The shoreline cuts right across the centre and the lime is so close as well, that it sort of creates a static centre point, IMHO. Technically, a really nice shot.

*Critique Club*

I drew this photo for critique and it somehow didn't get critiqued, so here I am for that critique.
The very first thing I notice about this photo is the right tilt of the background. Makes everything look like it's going to slide off the edge of the world. I wonder if there was a way to straighten up the background, yet still have the window from angled? I think it would be possible, just play around with angles and perspectives.
About the perspective aspect, is this really a creative perspective? I do think that it's a different type of shot, and I like the way it's shot through the window, but I'm just not so sure there is a special perspective that adds to the photo. If you take the definition of perspective as just a way of looking at something, then sure, works for me. lol. Does that make any sense?
Focus and clarity look awesome. I love the detail in the front boat and the houses.
The reflections in the water are not as crisp focus probably due to some ripples in the water, but I think that adds to the photo, not distracts.
Colors are very nice. Wish the boat were a bit brighter lit. The way this is set up, the background seems like just that, a background element, because it is so small in relation to the big picture. The boat seems like it would be more considered a main focal point, yet we don't really see much of the boat.
A good photo of a lovely view. ~Heather~
