Fishby jrjrComment by Jutilda: Interesting. I like it but there is something. . . I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's just so bright and that makes me think it's overexposed. I like the composition. I like the coloration. Hmmmm - maybe more negative space would have worked better for me. |

In The Beginning...by jrjrComment by mpemberton: The overall effect is nice, although the grain does not ad as much as the rest of the process that gave this picture its earthy tonality. The only change I would make is t ensure that the grain was the same colour as its surrounding environment. That is the problem of digital grain that is not present in film grain. |

In The Beginning...by jrjrComment by elee3009: This looks like what could have been a really lovely sunset shot. But the grain effect here is overpowering and instead of enhancing the image, has spoiled it IMO. Would like to see the original take when challenge is over. |

In The Beginning...by jrjrComment by cpanaioti: Noise isn't all that attractive especially when applied to the extreme. One way to make it more pleasing is to copy the background layer, apply a Gaussian blur and then blend the layers with colour. This converts the noise to black and white making it more like film grain.
Applying a little less noise and using the Gaussian blur technique could have made this image work. As it is I feel it's been over done. |
