Make the Right Moves!by Moose101Comment by sidpixel: I like the DOF and the reflections - in chess terms it would have been more convincing with a dominant queen or the king in the corner. It sounds as though I'm being a picky don't it - OK good luck |

arrgh, lets watch the bloody thing dry...by Moose101Comment by Matthew: yes - red paint should cover those bloodstains.
Big shadows behind the brush are a little overpowering. The wood colours are slightly over exposed, and the red paint looks like a really bad job...! Would have been more aesthtically pleasing with better painting, but then it would have been less "cover up the evidence", if that was the look you were going for. |

Make the Right Moves!by Moose101Comment by e301: I get a sense of none of this being quite in focus - as though you've AF'd on the exxtreme front edge of the fallen piece, with a very shallow DOF, and so missed most of the actual subjects: the lines on the board are a give-away. I like the sense of light, however. Such images as this - fundamentally using the chess pieces to replace people as subjects - are so very common, that I think the highest technical virtues are absolutely necessary to their success. |

Make the Right Moves!by Moose101Comment by srbrubaker: The lighting looks good and the composition seems interesting. It appears that the only part of the photo in focus is the reflection of the white king's crown, and this is simply not enough for my taste.
Also I'm confused. The focus is on the toppled king. He has presumably lost the battle. Or is he just reclining comfortably while the other king is bringing him fresh fruits and cheeses? |
