Shadows in Heavenby KonadorComment by dr rick: Greetings from the Critique Club.
This scene had too much tonal range to be captured in its entirety by a camera, and I agree capturing the shadow was the right choice. The upward camera angle emphasizes that the shadow is in the sky as well as providing a dramatic view of the church tower. The part of the church in the foreground helps balance the composition, but the cross on top of it competes for the center of interest being in the foreground with strong diagonal lines leading to it. While this is normally to be avoided, I think it works here since it brings the viewer's gaze closer to the shadow, which is the major feature of this image but not so exciting in and of itself.
Overall I like this image. The church, with its varied textures, is interesting itself and the shadow adds both symbolic and visual interest. |

What's the Point?by KonadorComment by adine: A lot of points in this place, some literal and some figurative. And after a long day in committee we ask, "What IS the point? Lets get a pint!" Sorry couldn't resist. Back to the point - Love this picture. You are right on with the sharp siouettes and that beautiful sky. I might crop just a bit off the bottom. 9 |

What's the Point?by KonadorComment by drydoc: In my humble opinion: the major building itself would have been more dramatic. . . especially with that sky. To me, it is a case where less is more. |
