This is a great shot. The colors are so vibrant, excellent time of day. I love the focus you used on the fence post to give the photo a subject, not just a basic landscape image. I love the contrast, as well it really help the plants on the right side of the post not get lost into the field. It almost looks like the plants on both sides of the fence are not the same field but very different areas. The depth of the right side really grabs my attention when I am able to sit and look at the shot. I saw the comment about the background being soft, but I don't know if I would like the image as much if it was too strong, it would take away from the real focus. This is just a great shot. I think it was just a hard category with so many landscape to grab viewer attention.

Nice idea, and the colours, in particular the blue sky, are beautiful, but I think it might work better if the flag were unfurled at least a bit more, and not so much in shadow.

Not just aimed at this particular photo.... Are pieces of cloth on a stick and the armed forces really all Americans have to be proud of? Seems that almost every expression of national pride from an american here has displayed one or another... lacks imagination imho. I would have liked to have seen some of the grand and not-so-grand achievements of that great nation and its citizens?
