Two Classics by JackoComment by zadore: ...from Critique Club...
Hi Jacko (fellow Canuck) ...we meet again :)
FIRST IMPRESSION:
Excellent
COMPOSITION:
perfect...i think it works very nice. Excellent use of the rule of thirds.:)
TECHNICAL:
The focus on that splash is really quite something. The reflection on the top of the drop really makes the shot, IMO. Lighting is very nice, as is the DOF, which blurs out the background...well done :)
ARTISTIC:
Yes, it is a cliche alright, and you managed to pull off a terrific version of it. The use of the chess board (printout) was very creative. :)
OVERALL:
Great shot...looks great next to your blueberry :)
CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB!
Cheers. |

Flip sideby JackoComment by Swashbuckler: This may be THE perfect flower picture. Very, very nice! Very nice details. Color and contrast are wonderful. Framing - I love it. Challenge - a tad weak, but totally acceptable (maybe a longer stem????) Very strong 9 Swash |

Where's Bin Laden?by JackoComment by FranziskaLang: Challenge met. I'm not sure whether I personally would've chosen Bin Laden, but it's certainly a name and face with notoriety and a large recognition factor. As for the photo, I like the composition with the flowers quite a lot, and the focus on the flowers is good, too, as is the DOF. I would've probably cleaned some of the leaves of the stems before placing the flowers to make the diagonal lines more simple. Your lighting is a little uneven, the white flower is a little bright in spots (although still acceptable, no real blow-out), and the red flower too dark. I wonder if adding light from the right would have evened this out a bit. I also would've used less of a frame (remove the one pixel white on the inside, and make the black thinner), but I realize frames are very much a personal taste thing. Overall, good job. :) |

Where's Bin Laden?by JackoComment by Gallatin: I would like to see the flowers more focused and cropped just above the petals on the red flower, nice border. |

Flip sideby JackoComment by xertion: Creative take on the challenge. There is always a way to squeeze a flower into every challenge, and this time you managed to do it. Crisp focus and very soothing bright blue sky. Great shot...9! - xertion |
