A bit more detail in the foreground would have been nice but I understand the high contrast situation you had to work with here. Because of the shape of your subject there is a lot of dead space..the dark foreground and empty area of sky which might hurt in the voting.

I don't have anything against borders, per se, except when they subtract or distract from the actual image, which this one does. Also, too grainy to merit a good rating.

This is a nice idea for a macro and the angle you have chosen provides an interesting composition. The red border seems to be out of keeping with the tonal theme of the photograph, and a a rsults detract from, rather than enhances, the image.

If this were a wilderness shot (ie - no sidwalk) it would at least be a nice documentary type of shot, but in this case I find it extremely unattractive. It's also very soft in the lower left.
