I am struggling this week with the concept of 'candid' pets...

Very common sight around my house. Not very interesting for that reason only.

This photo seems to have an overall 'foggy' appearance. Perhaps a lower angle and close up of the dogs face had been a better choice?

Very nice color background. makes everything stand out very well. The lighting is great and I love the angle. The shavings spill off the left edge just a little bit. I would like to see it either all in the frame, or spilling out more. With the tad bit that it is off the photo, it looks like it was almost an accident that it spilled off. The shaving in the front makes a really neat shadow and I like how the shavings are wavy like that. Great focus, and you did a really good job keeping glare and reflection off the metal part of the pencil. Overall gret job. Good luck in the challenge.

Nice photo. The green background color works well with this set-up. I does seem that the lighting is a little harsh and creates some extremely dark shadows. The whole thing appears to have a grainy overcast. I don't know what the cure for these things are, hopefully someone else will be more fully able to assist with their critique.
