the past behind themby saintaugustComment by lynnesite: Love how the shallow depth of field makes this background blend so well. Easy to imagine it as history of your foreground subjects. The partial desat only adds to the impression. I expect this will be highly under-rated as a cursory glance reveals little. I even like the blown highlights of the paraders because of how it mirrors that in the historic background. |

the past behind themby saintaugustComment by just-married: Very nice idea. I think it would be better if the men were in focus instead of the background. It's being BW sets it apart enough so that it's being in focu isn't required to draw attention. |

cloud factoryby saintaugustComment by racw: I would've liked to see the whole building, and then all the smoke... It's a little plain without the whole thing that's why. But otherwise, good idea. |

cloud factoryby saintaugustComment by Sammie: This really does have a gritty, industrial feel to it. To me, the compostion would have been inproved if the stack would have been on the right third line rather than almost in the middle. Also, the wires look very jaggy - they could have been this way but it kind of looks like it comes from the compression in resizing. |

All Hail the King!by saintaugustComment by jonr: I like it. Th knife is a bit dull (No pun intended) and out of style with the forks, but the lightning and the softness is working for me. Even the edge is not too distracting. |

the past behind themby saintaugustComment by CNovack: I had to do a double take to notice what is in these scene. A really unique street photography capture. The present is represented by the men in uniform in the forground, while in the background we see B&W imagery of an age long past with people from 30's or 40's seemingly staring out at the present day scene. The past lies behind the men pictured in our present of the here and now. |
