The rest, really, is negative space, isn't it? I'd render it black, and perhaps crop to taste (leaving a fair amount of the dark), loosing the pipe in the fore?

Seems so out of place, almost apocalyptic in a way.
I do like the grass/wheat blowing across the frame the way it is.
The Gold of the field and the sprires on the church are a nice balance.

WOW - I love the monochromatic theme, without it being a duotone. Gorgeous! The water almost looks like it has mercury floating atop it.
