Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.

First Impression - the most important one:
Certainly is a nice burst of color. Nice detail.

Composition:
Lacks a little punch. Perhaps the blue area shoudn't be at the center of the photo, but off center (Rule of Thirds).

Subject:
Subject is clear and nicely presented.

Technical (Colour, focus, and light):
Colour: Nice color, and this was essential for this challenge.
Focus: Seems a bit soft to me, but this may be more of a post-process thing than an in-camera issue.

To grow its vote?:
Composition.. push the Rule of Thirds HARD... voters at DPC love the Thirds compositions.

Summary:
Overall, nice presentation. You were on the right track here and it fit the Challenge well.
