It was a candid shot. It is in a parking lot on a NJ beach. The kid got probably tired so just chose to sit down right on the road while his mother was walking to their car. He is looking at his mother who is asking him to get up. I was just as far as the mother so there was no point to intervene and there was no immediate danger.

The curb forms an extremely strong horizontal line that bisects the child in the wrong places (at his eyes, just below shoulders). Cute kid, great expression, good concept, but that curb just kills it for me.
