Need to do something about the background in order to make your subject stand out a little more

Nope. Took me about 5 tries to get this image. An eruption takes less than a second to from start to a full blown eruption.
I just might add some more images from this series into my portfolio soon.
My 10d does 3.3 fps and I just started shooting when I thought it might start to erupt. Got some very nice series from flat, to a low bulge to this and then to a full blown eruption

Darn. I didn't read the rules closely enough. I thought all dodgeing and cloneing was off-limits. (note to self: always read the fine print)
Well, anyway, I had no time to do any editing except a very rough crop and my computer wasn't on its best behavior and photoshop kept on crashing.

Great capture. I don't think I've EVER seen this before. I've seen a lot of full blown geysers, but never the beginning. Thank you.

This is an interesting image. The more I look at it, the more fascinating I find the photo. Where is this, Yeollowstone or New Zealand orsomewhere else? It seems you captured the rush of air directly under the surfacr of the water. Great photo.

Amazing stop action photography here. Too bad you weren't able to eliminate the ropes in the background, but you caught it at the right time.
