I'm not sure what kind of effect you were going for with the Out Of Focus, but it doesn't work for me.

This is clever work and it looks sensational!! I love the wood ripples from the rowing.

Sometimes public places that normally have a lot of activity produce a sort of subtle lonely or empty feeling when they are photographed uninhabited. I get that from this photo. There's also a kind of post-industrial sterile coldness to the space. Both of these notions are accentuated by the low camera angle which is a position of low power. That's what I see, anyway.

The shot is ok, but I think it needs an additional elemement to make it interesting. Maybe something weird in the basket or someone waiting there 'Passing Time' :)
The shot as it is looks more like a test shot to check out the light/DOF and all.

sorry if the following comes across harsh, but i call 'em as i see 'em. this is really a bad snapshot. the focus is on the drum, but unfortunately, you have shot from an angle doesn't make it very interesting. this could be done, keeping the short dof, but not from this angle. the drummer seems to be "just there", not really doing anything. as for the challenge, the blurriness here does not translate into bokeh.

I don't feel that depth of field limitations = bokeh. Sorry. 4.

Comment by Artan:
the backgraound for me is too obvious, and thefore misses the bokeh feel.

I like the general balance of the composition, but wonder whetherthe lamp on the right creates too much glare behind the drummer.
