I think the handcoloring actually hurts this picture instead of helping, it just feels odd for this pic.

I like the way you did this. The selective detaturation here appeals to me. It makes the detail in the green subject really stand out. I think it's a very pleasing composition -- and I don't even like cactus-- at all! But I really do like this photo.

WAY cool landscape, and wonderful BW conversion, POV, DOF, etc. But the sand isn't "featured", maybe you want us to look at the composition of the rocks as the granular part. Hmmm.

Ok this one made me laugh. Thsi image has a strong Ansel feel to it IMO. You have an amazing amount of detail and a DOF that goes on forever leaving the rock in the foreground and the mountains in the distance all in perfect focus. Very good composition in a high contrast image. I do feel however that as for is fitting the challenge it is a little to far outside of the box. For granular I would expect macro photography showing of the fine details of a granular substance. The sand and the marbles are granular but you did not realy capture the granular surface well enough to make it the center of intrest. But due to the fact that it is so well done and that is is close to the challenge topic. I wouldn't feel right giving this less than an 8. Very nice job!!
