The State Capitolby smartypantsComment by geewhy: You did well to avoid using a conventional but boring viewpoint.
I like the way you`ve split your image diagonally...nice work |

The State Capitolby smartypantsComment by e301: Like this - like the compositional strength of that diagonal, and the geometry of the whole thing. given the challenge, I would have liked the green to be stronger in the trees, in my experience of travel guides they like bright stuff; and even beyond that, I rather think some colour in there - more colour rather - would balance the detail in the rest of the shot nicely. |

A good omage with soothing foliage to give the eyes a good balast to study the main subject. Bumping yp on clarity and keen angle. |

A Splash of Sunlightby smartypantsComment by Artyste: Here's a photograph that I think is absolutely stunning, but I can guess that you're probably getting hit a little hard in the voting because "It's a silhouette!" Am I right? hehe. Not me. The bottle is silhouetted, true, but that's not the subject. Your subject is the splash of water, which is *very* beautifully enhanced by the lighting in this, and not at all silhoutted. Composition is strong, leading you from one side of the photograph with the strong dark bottle top, to the other end through the flow of water. My two gripes with this is that it looks a little over-smoothed, and the exposure is perhaps a little high (could use less flash in the sparkling highlights). However, a beautiful photograph, a great example of backlighting, and one of the better shots (IMO) of the challenge. Congrats. |
