Comment by KDO:
Nice idea, the light is just a little too harsh. The shining effect you were going for is a great concept: highlighting the saxaphone and having the player in partial shadow. It does work to focus the eye where you want it, but it is just a little too heavy-handed.

Comment by Art Roflmao:
Coulda been good, but way over saturated or polarized or whatever it is you did to it. Black & white, different angle or wood big enough to take up all background would've made it better for me.

Comment by bledford:
Low tech indeed. I'm not sure how much of this remains a true photograph, as it seems to have been converted to something else in post-processing (but forgive me if I'm wrong). It has a somewhat pop art feel to it, but not enough to warrant consideration as such. The colors are nice as the muted brown and cyan are very complementary. It's something I could imagine seeing being painted in watercolor. Perhaps I like this more than I thought when I first looked at it.

Comment by Arcanist:
Defined by low tech, but seems to be saturated or color hue corrected to the point of appearing very oversampled. Perhaps this is an artistic presentation of the subject, but the grain of the wood has become 'cartoonish' while the blue-green of the background is distracting beyond the art. Fits the challenge well, but the other elements seriously detract from the presentation. Perhaps a larger block of wood and less background would draw my eye to the drill which I found to be almost secondary to the presentation.

I think this is a rather interesting image, especially the flow of colours and the gushing efect. The line up the top left bothers my eye though. Otherwise quite unusual.

Not quite sure I like the filter/effects you used on this. It appears you've reduced the pallette by many colors causing the banding. Is it artistic? Yes. Does it appeal to a broad audience? Perhaps. If it's one thing I've learned here at DPC, it is to make your work appeal to the many not the few and I'm still learning what it is that appeals to the many.
