And STINKY!!!! Those look like durian to me. My friend, who is Chinese, brought a durian to the office one time, and we all tried it. Takes ok, I kinda started to like it after the 3rd time I had one or so, but smells horrid. Like rotting flesh or something. I wonder where you took this picture? The writing looks like arabic or something middle eastern.

Anyway, great picture of a REALLY wacky really real food. Most people don't have any idea how weird and wacky this fruit really is. Another fun fact about durian: The trees are extremely dangerous to have around. If a durian falls on you, it could easily kill you. They weigh around 25 pounds or so, at least the ones I've had.

3500 yen for something I don't even know how to eat? I don't think so. ;-) Seroiusly, this is a great subject for the challenge. My only suggestion would be to come in closer so that we don't even see the background items - just these wacky fruit. Still, this is a nice shot that meets the challenge well.
