Another Dragonflyby Pug-HComment by RonBeam: This a breathtaking macro! I have seen many dragonfly shots, but never seen all 6 legs clutching an object. Comp, focus, color, detail .... this shot has it all! |

Another Dragonflyby Pug-HComment by dwterry: The images that always suffer from a lack of comments are the ones that are right in the middle ground. Everyone comments on the awesome shots. Some comment on the bad shots. But the middle ones, very few people say anything. So here I am to explain why I voted a 5:
Looking at the wing and the lower legs you can see that perfect focus on part of the dragonfly was achieved. This is very hard to do and your accomplishment in this regard should be acknowledged!
For me, the critical part of a macro *is* the sharpness in the details. But in this case, I think you missed my only a fraction of an inch. The eyes and the head do not appear to be in focus. And yet the branch in front of the head looks fine. This makes me think the problem wasn't so much the focus (well, it *does* have to do with "where" you focused), but that a smaller aperture, resulting in greater depth of field, would have helped bring all of the essential parts into sharp focus.
I also happen to like the composition on this one. The angled view of the dragonfly as well as the matching angle of its background which opposes the angle of the stick it is holding onto.
So while this is not a bad shot, the lack of focus on the head and eye is what hurts the shot, and that's why I ended up giving it a 5. Hope this helps. |

Another Dragonflyby Pug-HComment by macrothing: 8 - Very good. Not just 'another dragonfly'. I for one have never seen this angle before. That transparency on what part of the wing is in focus is - exquisite. Even the 'blurred transparency' is 'unique'. Same with the 'flutter' of it on the other side. For me, 'if only' the eyes and those 'fore' legs were in 'fine focus', and a touch more on the body, this would be very near perfect for me. I do not know what that is 'up there' in the left background but it detracts, especially from the beauty of those wings. The color in them, well they look just like stained glass windows or vice versa. Great capture. |

Another Dragonflyby Pug-HComment by redpanda: Based on your title I have a strong guess who you might be...if so, this could be as far as my taste goes another dragonfly, another ribbon... 10 (Mine could have come close if I cropped more:). |

Another Dragonflyby Pug-HComment by ladyhawk22: Just amazing detail on this insect! It's really cool to see it up close like this. I like the composition of this shot as well, with the wings leading off to the left. Nicely done. |

Another Dragonflyby Pug-HComment by Jutilda: You took a different approach and concentrated on his head and body instead of his wings. Good imagination. Nice detailing. Wow bugs are complex!!! |
