CHICAGO FIELD MUSEUMby sabphotoComment by Barry: There are lots of buildings in this challenge, for me to give more than 5 for one of these images I need something very dramatic. sorrybut this doesnt have that element in it. Nice image though. |

the flag is out of focus, too. |
The above comment was made about a Minimalism photo submitted by Scott Bacon (sabphoto). The portion "then go voice your patriotism somewhere else" is uncalled for and against the rules. There is no reason to comment on the motives of the photographer as long as he is not violating the challenge or forum rules. The commenter owes Scott (and the rest of America for that matter) an apology. |

American Flagby sabphotoComment by sabphoto: This shot was rushed and there for I forgot to stop and adjust my f-stop and work on getting the flag in focus not the sailor. The dull colors are due to the fact that I didn't realize my JTX LCD monitor at home is not at all calibrated and shows things brighter than they really are. I have since tried to calibrate it with failure being my only result. So now I send my submission idea here to work to view it on a CRT and adjust as needed. My next submission already looks better.
Thank you everyone for your comments, some were rude but all appreciated. Thanks...I'm learning from them |

American Flagby sabphotoComment by TooCool: I'm assuming that you are in the military yourself if you have access to the raising/lowering of the flag ceremony. Thank you and all your fellow sailors for your service. We as Americans owe you a huge debt of gratitude! As to the shot. Your colors seem very flat. What time of day was this shot? It looks underexposed. It's also very soft. Either the sailor or the flag seem like they should be in sharp focus. Witht the challenge subject and the title of your shot I would prefer the flag to be in focus. The colors may be fixable with photoshop. The sharpness issue requires a reshoot.

American Flagby sabphotoComment by ursula: I like the idea, but I think that as far as "minimalism" is concerned, the story here is the sailor saluting the flag. The sailor is a very integral part of the picture. I think that the picture works, but not so much for minimalism. ~6 |
