Teacher's pet?by sidpixelComment by just-married: An apple with a bite missing and a dinosaur poking out? On top of a lesson plan for a digital photo? I missed the joke. DOF is good. 3, just-married |

Teacher's pet?by sidpixelComment by aznym: I have seen similar ideas in the challenge but I don't think any of the others come even close this this. It's unique and it's clever. Well done. |

This shot is not as bad as its score indicates. You have interesting subject matter and some lovely motion from the water. But, from what I can gather, the voters would not have liked this for the following reasons:
> gloomy lighting which has left colour and contrast quite flat
> 'parts' too obvious and unchallenging
> composition not engaging enough
Improvements would be:
> better, brighter lighting
> less 'human' viewpoint (eye-level is always a little dull)
> getting closer
These are simple things to improve so I hope you don't take poor ratings to heart, as this shows promise in my view.
Cheers

Many thanks Jon,
I greatly appreciate your very constructive comments, all of which I agree with. This is the first critique I have received but it was well worth waiting for!. It is also made me feel better because this is the first entry that didn't even merit one comment from anybody!
Do you think I may have done better with the one I originally intended?
Hmmm! I was going to attach my original image but it asks for a URL as opposed to my disk address. For my future reference and out of interest of your opinion, could you advise how I do that? |
