good leading line. your subject is a bit bland though. maybe it's just the weather. I really like the looks of that bridge down below. i wonder if looking up the river at that would have made a more enticing piece

An interesting shot of the canal (I like the inclusion of the river below as a counterpoint to the straightness of the canal), but I feel that the path on the left is a little too dominant and leads my eye straight past the narrow boat. Could you perhaps try cropping the fence on the left completely off?
