What appealed to me most was the contrast of old and new. The rust vs the shiney metal of the lock.
The red seems a touch over saturated? Did you up it, or is rust that brilliant in NZ? The compostion is good, focus great, obviously im a fan of the subject matter. I didnt care for the yellow line in the bottom left corner - i would have liked it to be soild black - but i guess not a lot you could do on that one! Not in basic anyways ;)

Love the photograph (and the Tararuas), but the "stormclouds" don't seem prominent enough to warrant inclusion in the title. In any case, it's an effective use of leading lines, especially with the point of convergence placed on the farm building. 7
