Autumn Night Coloursby SteveJComment by peete: a flash photo of a couple of leaves isnt going to cut it for this challenge. people were looking more for a shot where the nighttime is actually visible. for all we know this could be broad daylight (although it looks like nighttime with flash). |

Autumn Night Coloursby SteveJComment by dartompkins: I dont think this was the best choice for a night shot. The flash is too overpowering, and makes it almost impossible to see it as a night shot. |

Autumn Night Coloursby SteveJComment by leaf: the direct lighting of the flash makes for a very cotrasty stagnant photo. The subject is nicely colored, but is the subject is not presented in a way that makes me think, or is anything other than what i would see if i looked at it for one second in real life. show me something i would miss if i wa walking by. The image also does not show any 'night' in it... it just happened to be dark when you shot the image. |

Autumn Night Coloursby SteveJComment by Dr.Confuser: I find the leaves turning from green to red somewhat interesting, but the overall photo doesn't sustain my interest. It feels too busy to me. Not sure of the light source, possibly your flash, but the lighting feels pretty harsh. |

Red Hairby SteveJComment by dsidwell: She sure has red hair! This lovely woman is portrayed with red hair and a delightful expression. Your lighting is a bit harsh and unwelcoming, but still a flattering portrait. |

Red Hairby SteveJComment by graphicfunk: Returning for comments.
Here you have a wonderful, almost candid shot and a better choice of lighting would have helped this image greatly. The hot spots detract. Frontal flash is not the best way to go and then always examine the eyes. Ehen they are not dead sharp, it means a do over. I feel this would have made a good study because the hair curls are very casual and cute. I have placed you at 6 instead of 5 because I really would like you to consider improving the spirit of this image in your next shoot. Instead of going with the flash, in daylight, bring subject to a window. That is, use natural light in the absence of boubce flash, but do think twice about direct flash and take as many shots as you need. I focus one shot tight in the eyes, the other focused between the eyes. When the image is 3/4 face you also have the dof to worry about. |
