The contrast seems a bit low, try pushing it up to give more impact. Also experiment with more interesting angles and composition.

100k w/ 5% tolerance if my memory serves me correctly and if I can see the color lines on a resistor that means you have a great micro in focus with color detail. Great job!

lighting way too strong here. The glare off the resistor and shadow created underneath give it a snapshot feel and not a photograph. While the eye is clarly drawn to teh subject - the resistor - the surrounding elelments to not progress in any particular order and the void in the foregound leave me to coclude that the composition is weak here. Soften the lighting , even out the composition, and keep shooting. Even try a few different colors of light instead of your flash.

Shall I take the Lens Cap off??
