Rite of Passageby quark314Comment by rachelellen: this is exactly one that I thought of doing, although I was just going to have an aspirin bottle. You executed it far better than I could have. Good job. |

Squirrel Iby quark314Comment by quark314: Originally posted by Jutilda: I love the detail. Great capture. He's a plump little guy!!! |
Thanks Judy! Yeah, plump & fearless. I had spent the afternoon at one of our Metroparks located on a lake. After a stroll through the nature center and some time down by the water, I was heading back to my Jeep by way of a road that borders the golf course. I spotted one squirrel sitting on the fence. (S)he let me approach very close but in readying my camera, I must've spooked him/her. Poof - gone! But a few yards away was another, much braver squirrel. Not only did I approach this one, camera at the ready by now, but (s)he approached me, obviously accustomed to being fed by people on the links. I had no treats with me but the squirrel scurried a couple yards inside the fence and found a piece of apple. It came back outside the fence and sat right in front of me while I snapped away as (s)he munched away, pausing occasionally as if posing for me. What luck!!
