Comment by shadow:
technically good, rules of thirds, sharp focus and all, but alas, doesnt hold much interest. maybe that's why it didnt get the score you hoped for?

This is superb. It forces me to look at it longer naed longer. Rule of thirds is excellent applied. 2 bad it ended up at 5.041. This one deserves 6.041 at least.

This is terrific! Arresting composition, and a great idea to juxtapose the tree with the grungy old plastic drum ... the image demands the viewer's attention. I like photographs that use just a few elements for maximum visual and intellectual impact, and this is one of those!

My first thought on this photo is" what a wonderful use of diagonal lines and a fresh perspective". both are done very well. Im not sure exactly what this is a photo of but looks to be a checkered finish line maybe for a race track of some sort. for me this would have been better if the white squares had be clean as they look to be a bit dirty(at least one looks this way). to make this photo even better i feel a light would have made more use of the contrasting squares. I dont know the processing software you use (I use PS7 so i will use that as my reference) but i would have played with my contrast settings and a slight curves adjustment. I also would have used my selective color to whiten the whites and blacken the blacks to give more depth to this. looks to me like you have your technicals down pat, just need some help with the processing. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will try to help you to the best of my abilties. Have a great day and i look forward to seeing more of your work. :o) ~~Cher~~

Nice B&W pattern. I think this could use a tad more contrast.

Good shot, I would have voted higher if there was a little more contrast.

Had the whites been brighter, I would have scored this higher. For me, the tones are more...subdued than high contrast. Cool angle though. :)

Nice idea and a cool perspective here. Lighting seems to be a little dull. Perhaps even a little tweaking of levels could enhance the presentation.

Comment by JunieMoon:
I think the contrast would have been stronger if you had dodged the white squares more. Adjusting contrast to a higher setting may have also created more of an illusion of contrast.
