Castell Dinas Brân by riotComment by primabarbara: This is an awesome composition! The landscape is bathing in golden light. I like it that you didn't overprocess it - a very elegant HDR and a great, calm, peaceful motif deserve the red ribbon! Congrats!

An interesting image that contributes well to the challenge.
Firstly, congratulations Eugene on your high score and placing, well deserved. Thank you also for your detailed narrative which shows the amount of thought and effort that went into making this image I̢۪m pleased it was all well worth while for you. This is certainly the sort of image that benefits from the HDR processing, though I have seen so many poorly processed HDR̢۪s it is always a welcome relief to see a subtle and natural looking example such as you have here. I have a tip I would like to pass on to you for those slower shutter speeds without a tripod, what I use is a piece of string about 4 foot long attached to the bottom of the camera, place your foot on the end on the ground and pull up taught against it, I regularly use this for full 1 second exposures. I'm surprised you didn't get more comments but I hope this helps. |

An appealing image that meets the challenge
Nice one Eugene! What a great opportunity for an original image that fits the challenge brief perfectly. I like your composition avoiding any distractions it enables us to home in on the action which is intriguing in itself especially trying to figure out how the runners created the separation they did. I like the soft illumination from the lighting both on the water and the bridge. This is a great image Eugene, well done |

An interesting image that meets the challenge
What a considerate bunch of mates you have, I̢۪m not sure I could get away with throwing everybody out of the motor for an image! I have to say, I actually prefer this sort of shot over the long exposure misty scenes that have become so popular nowadays. Your scene is intensely blue rather to its detriment, I think you could say this is an example of an adherence to capture the scene as seen but resulting in a somewhat artificial end result that lacks credibility. Thanks for an interesting entry Eugene. |

Storm-Blasted Northern Shoresby riotComment by Teafran: Would have liked to rate this higher, but the overall color tone and dark detail detract, to me anyway, from the image. Still the intent is clear and my initial rating of a 6 was a bit too harsh. Now a 7. |
