Maybe centered composition is making you get lower position, try 1/3 rule so bird is left-down, I think it will look more appealing. 7

So, is the subject a "blue crane" or a sport? If it was the "crane" (where did you get Pelican?) then I would have cropped differently. If it was a sport - I probably would have tried to concentrate on the boats without the crane, or maybe even waited until some rowers arrived and scared the crane away. Nice focus and reflection though. Good luck in the challenge.
