Dedicated to herby alexgarciaComment by ubique: I kept bumping this up a bit, then down a bit, then up again, until I felt like I was taunting it. In the end, up. It is deceptively quiet and unassuming, but there is something poignant about the bicycle and the empty bench. Obviously the title provides a solution, but I do think the image succeeds in suggesting a satisfying general direction of meaning anyway. Both the camera and the post-processing work are subtle and understated, which just makes me admire it even more. I think it's an image that will last. Not immortal, perhaps, but certainly enduring. 9. |

Color balanceby alexgarciaComment by ladyhawk22: ::: Critique Club ::: ladyhawk22
First Impression - the most important one: Nice market shot with lots of different colors and textures.
Composition: Composition looks good. I might be interested to see the shot a little more angled, so that we get a longer view of the market stand. I also might suggest placing the shot so the scale is a little higher in the photo...it's rather close to the center right now.
Subject: Lots going on in this shot! Certainly plenty of colors. I like these marketplace shots quite a bit...they really give a feel of the place they're taken.
Technical (Colour, focus, and light): Colors look pretty good, though there seems to be a slight yellow tone to the photo (possibly because of lighting?) Focus looks pretty good too, though it seems a touch soft at the corners of the photo.
To grow its vote?: To grow the vote here, I would suggest really making sure that the focus is spot on. In this style of photo (which strikes me as somewhat photojournalistic) the focus can really make a huge impact. It's certainly not horrible, but the sharper the image, the better. I also think that composing the shot to remove the scale from the center of the photo would improve the score as well.
Summary: Lots to look at in this shot! Just a couple things to adjust and we're rockin' and rollin'! |

Dedicated to herby alexgarciaComment by posthumous: some will criticize you for not having a focal point. you don't need a focal point. my gaze enjoyed moving all over your picture. Then I look at your title, and the lack of focal point comes to represent the lack of a lover, adding a whole new poignancy to the picture... though I think it was always there. |

Dedicated to herby alexgarciaComment by mycelium: I'm afraid I can't get over the title here. The way I look at a picture is this - first a quick glance at the image, barely more than a determination of basic composition and color use. and then I look at the title, and then back to the image, and try to relate them. Here I just can't figure out how the title relates to the image. What is the object of dedication? Is it the bicycle in the foreground? The bridge in the background? The whole scene? The photograph itself - or its contents? (5) |

Dedicated to herby alexgarciaComment by Crisik: the depth of focus is a bit strange - everything behind the railing seem to be an old poster. Plus the front is too busy and messy.
Still, it breathes "poetry" and "mystery" to me very well. |

Dedicated to herby alexgarciaComment by pgatt: Nice, emotive photo, shame about the slight background blur but otherwise this is nice if a little too busy. 7/10. |

Dedicated to herby alexgarciaComment by Army of nOne: I get the feeling there is deep emotional significance in this photo, based partly on the title of course, but unfortunately I find myself asking "what is dedicated to her" with no clear subject jumping out at me. Great mood in the photo though. |
