Shattered Ideaby Travis99Comment by snackwells: Good stop motion. I think this one is artistically pleasing in the way you cropped it.
Suggestions
- This picture is virtually B&W. I feel that converting it to a duotone would have significantly improved it. I suggest toning with perhaps a violet color, or steel blue, to fit the mood of the photo.
- Could be a hair sharper as well.
- If you have access to a noise removal software program, could have been used to clean up some of the noise.
- Subtle levels and curves adjustment could darken the backdrop a bit.
- I would have burned the hell out of the periphery to give the shatter point a visual highlight and dodged some of the thrown glass to increase the contrast with the darkened backdrop.
These suggestions should be taken in context: it's overall a very interesting and well executed shot. Good luck.

Shattered Ideaby Travis99Comment by strags: Another great dramatic explosion shot. I'm guessing you had to use a fairly high ISO to get a fast enough shot. The body of the bulb seems a bit fuzzy as a result. |

Shattered Ideaby Travis99Comment by srdanz: Great timing, a bit weak on lighting. It's the dark background that dulls the whole image a bit too much for my taste. |

SadMonkey.jpgby Travis99Comment by Skip: the expression is nice, but the lighting is way off on the balance of the image. the tilt needs to be corrected. for a stock image to be used, it has to have an audience. to shoot stock, you have to have an idea of the audience you are trying to reach before you shoot the image. if you simply go out and shoot a bunch of images and hope to find some stock value in something you shot, you are wasting your time. a better use of time would be to look through magazines at the images that illustrate the articles, then make up your own inventory of images to shoot, then go shoot them. the key is: don't shoot first; plan first. |
