The worst thing on this picture is that I spelled "faux pas" wrong in my comment. :)

The biggest issue is probably the control of the background. We don't really want that big corrugated barn in the back. That doesn't feel warm and fuzzy. Take that away and you have a 5.5 at least. The horse adds a nice foreground subject and is not centered. That's good. It's probably not the most flattering view of a horse though. ;)

It was a tough shot for basic editing. You had to expose to keep the horse from being a black mess, but also had to keep the trees and sky from being too light. In the end, it probably wasn't gonna happen. I think you did well for what you could work with.

I like the composition of this shot for the postion of the horse as it stands there and gazes out at the open fields and the autumn trees beyond adds interest to what would have otherwise been an empty scene. Two things that would improve this shot would be to totally crop out and loose the sky. The white blasted sky adds nothing to the vibrant colors that are in the scene. That white sky just detracts. It is the colors that you want the viewer to notice and keep their gaze from straying. Next I have not decided if it is totally out of place or if it adds to the scene. On one hand I look at the stark white trailer and think that it is entirely out of place and wrecks the natural idyllic scenery of all the elements the surrounds it. While on the other hand I look upon it the same way as this horse is gazing on it. It may be that this horse it looking forward to getting in the trailer for warmth, shelter, and food OR it just may be looking back on it with gratitude that it is free from it's confines.

The trailer takes away from the photo and overall feel.

If one were to position oneself just right, a horse that size should be able to hide that pesky shed. And that would be a wonderful picture.

Nice work on this. The detail in the horses hooves is amazing. The dark parts of the horse, however, is a bit too dark, and the building emerging from his head a bit distracting. The colors are great, and the soft lighting excellent.

Lovely fall image with nice soft colours, and gorgeous horse! Pity the barn was there. I bet this would have ribboned minus that.

Why is it that everybody wants their colours to be so eye ... hurting.

Where is the detail on the horses .. but? Did you think that you could sacrefice
the colours and detials on the main subject just to get the colours on the trees so vivid?

This is a background. There is nothing bad in having pastel colours in your photograph!!
It could even work for your adventage.

Can't say if the white building does a good thing to the image ... well no it doesn't.

I wish you had spent more time with the horsee and the trees. I give it a 7. But remember this is more of 6.7 :P
