Cafe Societyby JakComment by just-married: Very nicely composed. Vibrant colors. A bit dark on the people; I wish they were lighter and a tad more sharply focused. Would be nice if bicycle had made it out of the shot before the shutter snapped. (or is that parked there.) Still, good eye. 7, just-married |

Cafe Societyby JakComment by zadore: Strong impact from this shot...I like it alot. I'd get rid of the bikes (if the owners wouldn't mind) |

Windowsby JakComment by Jak: This was the first conception I ever thought of when the Challenge topic was announced. I originally thought of using a tree with a diagonal leaf-line. I then used a suburban house with red tiled roof. But I was happiest with this. The idea was to equally balance positive and negative space; to have them almost reversible in some way. A secondary thought was "window on the sky." Since the challenge began, the ealier picture (//www.dpchallenge.com/image.asp?IMAGE_ID=3254) has been mentioned to me several times. I prefer chariot's picture as a photograph, but I prefer mine as an exemplar of negative space. Many thanks for the kind comments. |

Windowsby JakComment by stephan: Nice composition. The diagonals are very effective. I also like the colouring. I don't know if you were aware of it when submitting the photo but there was a very similar photo in the "Free Study" challenge: //www.dpchallenge.com/image.asp?IMAGE_ID=3254 I score your photo on it's own merits but I think the other one is even better because of the dramatic sky. Also your photo seems to have some problems with JPEG compression (artefacts). -stephan |
