a little more of the thing on the left would improve this picture. the eye wants more and wants to relate to or recognize something more. the crosses look interesting, maybe if the camera was moved a little left, zoomed in a little more, and tilted a little down on the right.

You over emphasized with colorization. Too much empty space on the right. I just don't like the 1/3 rule because too many use it when it doesn't enhance a photo. This rule should be broken a lot of times. Here is one time. Sorry. PTL

Jak,

I think this is a great photojournalistic image. It tells a story on its own without the need for written text. This looks like a situation of 'urban blight' to me from your image. We don't have a large number of noticeably homeless people in my community, so I don't really get to see first hand how they do live and behave.

This image could definitely be seen on the front page of a newspaper for support of a detailed article describing the situation.

I'm taking a slightly different approach to my critique on this image. The technical issues that I normally discuss don't really apply here. You have met the challenge with a very interesting photo. Whatever time of day you chose to take this shot was a good one... there is no direct sunlight that is blasting away at your colors and the deatail of the image is fine...
