Good idea, I wish you had taken it a little further. With a white background, this would look much sharper. I would have loved to see a plate with "meat" and and glass of "wine" to round out the image.

A reasonable idea but I find the pattern on the table distracting. Some additional lighting from the side of this shot might have made it more interesting. Check out the tutorial on this site (Learn menu / Tutorials) that discusses lighting techniques.

The table cloth makes a very distracting background. There is too much glare on the spoon and the bowl.

Yuck! Perhaps you should have used real soup and added the words... the effect here is a bit gross, though I see that you needed the clear water to show the newsprint. The flash at the bottom of the bowl should perhaps be avoided next time.I think your background was very distracting, perhaps next time a white tablecloth or black counter could be used? Or any solid color really. The idea is good though.
