FAITHby SDWComment by Node: A photo of a page in the bible really does not convay hope to me, maybe to others but not to me. Sorry |

FAITHby SDWComment by Kavey: Faith and hope are certainly often very closely related for those who are religious. Given that I am not this image doesn't appeal to me hugely in terms of content. More than that, the image itself isn't aesthetically striking in any way - the angle of the book doesn't seem particularly interesting; I can see a tiny sliver of the surface beneath the book at the left corner and yet because it's so much darker than the main content it pulls my focus to i, the edges of the book are dirty and unattractive; the blue crinkly material at top right doesn't seem to go with the material and adds another colour to the mix. Hope this is of some use and not too negative a criticism. Best of luck. |

FAITHby SDWComment by Dr.Confuser: Nicely focused. Well lighted. Good composition.
I see two weaknesses which detract from the photo. 1) The upper right has a background that is colored and textured in a way that is distracting. Since this is a set up shot, I would suggest a background that is more subtle. 2) And you could correct this one with a different crop ... I find the litle dark triangle of background in the lower left distracting.
While I can find the word "hoped" in the photo, the tie in to the theme "hope" feels tenuous to me. |

FAITHby SDWComment by JJacobson: I don't like the lighting, the composition, or much. I would have liked to see a more interesting subject. |

FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIESby SDWComment by melismatica: This building has potentional as good subject matter. However, the cars in the parking lot, and the big chunk of the middle section of the building take up the majority of the picture frame without adding much. The middle section could perhaps be interesting if we could see people walking past (I can't tell if that is actually a passageway, it appears to be). My suggestion would be to return and focus on the tower of spiral lights at the right of the building, since that seems to have the biggest payoff in terms of interest. And by all means, move in closer to your subject and eliminate the distractions. |
